PTFE-lined tower

ASME B31.3 (Process Piping),ISO 28706 (Vitreous Enamel & PTFE Lining),ASTM D1784 (Plastic Material Standards)

Product Introduction

PTFE-Lined Tower Technical Specifications

1. Design Standards

Primary Codes:

ASME B31.3 (Process Piping)

ISO 28706 (Vitreous Enamel & PTFE Lining)

ASTM D1784 (Plastic Material Standards)

Structural Design:

Metallic shell per ASME VIII Div.1

Lining bond strength ≥5 MPa (ASTM D4541)

Quality Verification:

Spark test: ≥15 kV no breakdown (DIN EN 14430)

Vacuum test: -0.095 MPa held for 30 min no delamination

2. Material Specifications

Component

Material Options

Key Properties

Shell

Carbon Steel/304/316L

Structural integrity

Lining

PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene)

2~5mm thick, corrosion-proof

Adhesive

PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy)

Enhanced bonding strength

Seals

Glass-filled PTFE

Low cold flow, high temp resistance

3. Dimensions & Configuration

Diameter: DN 300 – DN 4000 mm

Max Height: ≤25 m (anti-sagging design)

Pressure Range:

Positive: ≤1.6 MPa (with stiffening rings)

Negative: ≥-0.09 MPa (requires support grids)

Temperature: -58°F ~ +392°F (short-term 446°F)

4. Key Applications

Industry

Typical Use Cases

Chemical

HCl/HF absorption, mixed acid regeneration

Pharmaceutical

High-purity solvent recovery, API reaction

Electronics

Etchant gas scrubbers, ultra-pure acid cleaning

Environmental

Fluoride exhaust treatment, plating fume towers

5. Technical Advantages

Unmatched Corrosion Resistance: Handles aqua regia, HF, conc. H₂SO₄, etc.

Zero Contamination: FDA 21 CFR 177.1550 compliant

Non-stick Surface: Contact angle 110°, prevents scaling

Lifecycle Economy: 60% cost saving vs. Hastelloy, service life >10 years

Thermal Insulation: k=0.25 W/m·K reduces external insulation needs

6. Critical Design Prohibitions

Thermal Shock:

Heating/cooling rate ≤25°C/h to prevent lining cracking.

Mechanical Impact:

Hard object impact on lined surfaces is strictly prohibited (Mohs hardness only 3-4).

Localized Overheating:

Steam nozzles require diffusers to avoid >250°C thermal shock.

Vacuum Limit:

Metal support grids must be used when vacuum exceeds 0.095 MPa.

7.Special Process Options

Lining Reinforcement:

Glass-fiber reinforced PTFE (for media containing solid particles).

Graphite-filled PTFE (enhances thermal conductivity).

Inspection Technologies:

Infrared thermography for lining bonding integrity.

Ultrasonic thickness monitoring for lining wear.

Note: Actual design requires:

Thermal stress simulation (PTFE and metal have 10× difference in thermal expansion coefficient)

Fluid dynamics analysis (prevents localized turbulent flow erosion)
