process of Aluminium Sulfate
1) What’s the Aluminum sulfate:
Aluminum sulfate is one of the basic inorganic chemical raw materials and a large-tonnage product among inorganic salts. Its output ranks on the top in the inorganic salt industry around the world. For example, Japan ranks second after silicate sodium. The United States lines the third place. China lines the fourth place. This shows the important position in the national economy. With the rapid development of the national economy, aluminum sulfate is used more and more industries widely. According to incomplete statistics, the domestic production capacity of aluminum sulfate has reached more than 1 million tons, but it still cannot meet the needs of the international and domestic markets. Therefore, this product is a chemical product with good development prospects.
2) The properties and application for Iron-free aluminum sulfate:
Iron-free aluminum sulfate is in the form of white flakes or blocks. It is easy to absorb moisture and solidify quickly when stored in the air for a long time. Easily soluble in water, the aqueous solution is acidic, and insoluble in alcohol. The
solution product is a colorless and transparent liquid.
The dehydration temperature of iron-free aluminum sulfate is 86.5°C. It begins to decompose when heated to 530°C and ends at 860°C. The decomposition product is r-AI2O3. Aluminum sulfate is strongly hydrolyzed in aqueous solution, first producing an intermediate product alkali or salt, and then producing aluminum hydroxide.
This product is mainly used as an alkali-free accelerator for papermaking, water purification and concrete. It is widely used in acid sizing in the paper production process. Used as flocculant in water purification industry. In addition, it is used as a mordant in the printing and dyeing industry;a tanning agent in the tanning industry; a pharmaceutical astringent;a wood preservative;a foam fire extinguishing agent;a refractory material additive; a flame retardant for thermal insulation materials; a food additive; an ink additive; and an additive for the production of ethane.Catalysts and raw materials for artificial gemstones, etc.
3) Production process overview and characteristics:
Add a certain amount of water to the slurry mixing tank, and then add aluminum hydroxide under stirring. After stirring evenly, pump into the glass lined reactors to react with a certain concentration of sulfuric acid. When the reaction is complete, put it into a steel belt crystallization. The generated aluminum sulfate solution is cooled and solidified into flakes on the surface of the steel belt crystallization, and finally crushed, measured, and packaged into qualified finished products. This process has simple production process, convenient operation, low investment, no pollution, relatively low manufacturing cost, and relatively high return on investment.
3.0 Main raw materials and power consumption:
Item | consumption quota(Ton/ product per ton) | Note |
Sulfuric acid | 0.48 | Concentration 98% |
Aluminum hydroxide | 0.26 | AI2O3≥64.5% |
Water | 1.0 | Process water and cooling water |
Electricity | 40KWh/product per ton |
4.0 Environmental pollution and prevention:
A. Waste steam: The intermittent exhaust steam from the reactor is water vapor, which is absorbed and condensed by the absorption tower and used as process water with acid.
B. Waste residue: Both raw materials are completely converted into products without any waste residue.
C. Wastewater: All process water enters the product, cooling water is recycled, and no wastewater is discharged.
