I. Process principle
This option adopts the liquefied ethylene oxide method to produce choline chloride. Liquefied trimethylamine(TMA)
reacts with hydrochloric acid to generate trimethylamine hydrochloride. Then liquefied ethylene oxide is added to
produce 56%~ 62%choline chloride aqueous. The concentrated aqueous mixes with corn cobs, then obtain choline
chloride powder via drying.

II. Production description
①Salt formation reaction section
Through controlling pipelines flowing rate on hydrochloride and liquefied trimethylamine(TMA) individually, they are pumped into the salt-forming reactor as exothermic reaction. The generated heat is exchanged by cooling water in the graphite condenser,the generated TMA hydrochloride solution enters the salt-forming reactor, then hydrochloric acid is dropped into it for adjusting the solution PH value.The reaction pressure of the salt-forming reactor is atmospheric pressure. The waste heat during the PH adjustment process is cooled by cooling water in jacket. The generated HCl tail gas is absorbed into the primary , secondary salt-forming absorption tank through salt-forming tail gas pipeline on each reactor. One part of TMA hydrochloride solution is pumped into the synthesis tank for reaction, other part is pumped into the salt-forming liquid temporary storage tank.
②Synthetic reaction section
The liquefied ethylene oxide and TMA hydrochloride in the salt-forming reactor or salt-forming liquid temporary storage tank is pumped into the synthesis reactors for reaction. This reaction is an exothermic reaction, and the generated heat is exchanged by graphite condenser matching with the synthesis tank, the generated ethylene oxide tail gas enters the primary and secondary synthesis absorption tanks through the tail gas pipeline on the synthesis tank for absorption, the absorbed liquid enters the synthesis tank for reuse, and the trace residual gas is discharged through the vent valve. When the pH and free amine of the synthetic liquid reach the standard, the choline chloride aqueous will be obtained.
③Increase concentration/enrich
The concentration of the synthesized choline chloride aqueous is 56-62%. It enters the three-effect evaporation system to evaporate the excess water, 70% aqueous can be obtained. After decolorization and preparation, it enters the temporary storage tank. 70% aqueous can be sold as aqueous products or used to produce powders.
④Power production
The aqueous is pumped into a high-level tank after concentration, mixed with corn cobs according to the proportion, and then entered into a drum dryer for drying. After cooling and sieving, it enters the packaging machine to obtain choline chloride powder.
